SMOK Nord 6 Pods & RPM 4 Coils: Compatibility, Wattage and Setup Guide
Share

SMOK Nord 6 empty top-fill pods use replaceable SMOK RPM 4 coils. The 5ml replacement pods are supplied in packs of two, while RPM 4 mesh coils come in packs of five in either 0.15Ω or 0.6Ω. You need a compatible pod and a coil to complete this setup; the empty pods do not include coils.
If you are choosing between SMOK Nord 6 5ml empty replacement pods and SMOK RPM 4 replacement mesh coils, the first question is which part needs replacing. A worn coil does not automatically mean you need a new cartridge, and a damaged cartridge cannot be repaired by fitting a fresh coil.
This guide explains how the two products work together, which resistance to choose and how to fill and maintain the Nord 6 empty-pod setup. It covers this confirmed pod-and-coil pairing without assuming compatibility with every SMOK kit.
Do You Need a Replacement Pod, a Coil or Both?
The pod is the cartridge that holds e-liquid and includes the mouthpiece and filling mechanism. The coil is the replaceable heating component fitted into its base. Power from the device heats liquid absorbed into the coil's wick, producing vapour.
With the Nord 6 empty top-fill pod, these parts can be replaced separately. The choice depends on the condition of your current setup:
| Your situation | What to check or replace |
|---|---|
| The pod is intact, but flavour stays poor or burnt after checking liquid and settings | Inspect and replace the coil as needed. |
| The cartridge, mouthpiece, filling mechanism or seals are damaged | Replace the pod; inspect the coil before reusing it. |
| You want a separate setup for another flavour | Use another compatible empty pod with its own coil. |
| You are starting with an empty cartridge | Fit a compatible coil before filling and using it. |
For a new cartridge, choose the Nord 6 empty pods in a two-pack. For replacement heating heads, choose RPM 4 mesh coils in your preferred resistance. The pod pack contains two cartridges; the coil pack contains five coils of the selected resistance, rather than a mixture of both options.
What Is the SMOK Nord 6 5ml Empty Pod?
The Nord 6 empty pod is a refillable cartridge designed for a removable coil. The 5ml capacity describes the amount of e-liquid each pod can hold; the cartridge is supplied empty, so liquid and coils must be bought separately.
Its clear PCTG reservoir lets you monitor the liquid level, while the magnetic connection allows the pod to be removed from the device for coil changes. Top access to the filling port means you open the mouthpiece/top cap to refill.
Empty Top-Fill Pods and Dual Core Pods Are Different
Check the type of cartridge you have before ordering. The empty top-fill version accepts removable RPM 4 coils. The Nord 6 Dual Core version contains built-in coils and is replaced as a complete cartridge when required.
A shared device name does not make the two pod types interchangeable for coil replacement. If your cartridge has a built-in, non-removable coil, buying a pack of loose RPM 4 coils will not turn it into an empty-pod setup.
SMOK RPM 4 0.15Ω vs 0.6Ω: Which Should You Choose?
Both RPM 4 options are mesh coils with a push-fit installation. Their main buying difference is the operating power range. Resistance is measured in ohms, shown by the Ω symbol, but the printed wattage range is the more useful guide when setting your device.
| RPM 4 variant | Marked wattage range | Marked best setting | Typical draw |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.15Ω Mesh | 30–60W | 50W | Higher-powered direct-to-lung (DTL) |
| 0.6Ω Mesh | 10–30W | 28W | Lower-powered restricted direct-to-lung (RDL) |
These ranges and best settings appear on the coil bodies shown in SMOK's product imagery. Check the markings on the stock you receive and follow the supplied instructions. A best setting is a reference point, not a reason to fire a newly fitted coil before its wick has saturated.
Choose 0.15Ω for a Higher-Powered DTL Setup
The 0.15Ω coil suits an open inhale drawn directly into the lungs. Its 30–60W range allows a higher-powered setup, typically chosen for greater vapour production. The Nord 6 airflow setting also affects how open or restricted the draw feels.
This option makes sense if you already prefer a higher-powered lung draw and have e-liquid suited to that setup. Start a fully primed new coil near the lower end of its stated range, then adjust gradually rather than immediately selecting the marked 50W best setting.
Choose 0.6Ω for a Lower-Powered, More Restricted Draw
The 0.6Ω coil has a 10–30W range, with 28W marked as its best setting. It gives you a lower operating power range and suits a more controlled RDL inhale. Your airflow and chosen wattage still matter: resistance alone does not determine the exact draw.
For the same firing time, a lower wattage uses less electrical energy. Actual battery runtime also depends on how often and how long you vape, so changing resistance is not a guarantee of a particular number of hours between charges.

Check Pod Compatibility Before Buying RPM 4 Coils
The confirmed pairing covered here is the SMOK Nord 6 Pod Kit fitted with a Nord 6 empty top-fill pod. These coils cannot be installed in the Nord 6 Dual Core pods with built-in heating heads.
There is also an important naming distinction. The older SMOK RPM 4 device uses original RPM or LP2 coils, depending on its cartridge. That device name should not be used as proof that the newer RPM 4 coil series in this guide will fit.
For any other SMOK kit, check the exact cartridge and the manufacturer's stated coil family. Similar resistance values or names do not establish compatibility. This guide confirms the Nord 6 empty-pod pairing without making an unsupported claim that the coil series fits every SMOK device, or that no other compatible setup can exist.
Choosing E-Liquid for the Nord 6 Empty-Pod Setup
Choose liquid for the installed coil and its power range, rather than the cartridge's capacity. A 5ml reservoir tells you how much the pod holds; it does not identify the right VG/PG ratio or nicotine strength.
VG means vegetable glycerine and PG means propylene glycol. Higher-VG blends are thicker than more balanced formulations. As general starting points, higher-powered DTL setups are commonly paired with higher-VG liquids, while balanced blends are commonly used at lower power. Always check the liquid supplier's suitability guidance and the instructions for your coil.
You can compare our high-VG e-liquids and 50/50 e-liquids after identifying the coil and wattage you intend to use. Nicotine strength is a separate consideration; the Ω value alone is not enough to decide whether a liquid is appropriate.
How to Fit a Coil and Fill a Nord 6 Empty Pod
The top-fill cartridge uses a spring-loaded filling port beneath its top cap. The bottle nozzle presses the port open, and the mechanism closes when the nozzle is removed.
- Switch off the device and remove the pod. When replacing an existing coil, empty the reservoir first to reduce spills.
- Fit the correct RPM 4 coil. Pull the old coil from the base, if fitted, and push the replacement fully into place. Check that its seals are undamaged and properly seated.
- Open the top cap. Remove the mouthpiece/top cap to expose the filling port.
- Fill through the port. Press a suitable bottle nozzle into the spring-loaded opening and fill without overfilling. Do not add liquid through the central airflow opening.
- Close and wipe. Remove the nozzle, refit the cap and clean away any spilled liquid before putting the pod back into the device.
- Let the new coil saturate. Leave the filled pod standing for several minutes, following the supplied priming instructions.
- Set the appropriate power. Begin near the lower end of the coil's printed range and adjust gradually once the coil is fully primed.
Priming means allowing e-liquid to reach the cotton wick before it is heated. Filling a pod and immediately firing a dry new coil can scorch the cotton. Refilling a previously used coil and fitting a brand-new coil are different situations: every new coil needs its own initial saturation period.
When Should You Replace the Coil or the Pod?
There is no fixed replacement timetable that suits every user. Coil wear depends on liquid, wattage, puff duration, frequency of use and priming. The condition of the cartridge is a separate question.
| What you notice | A useful first check |
|---|---|
| Poor flavour or a persistent burnt taste | Check the liquid level, coil saturation and wattage. Replace a worn or scorched coil as needed. |
| Liquid around the pod | Inspect coil seating, seals, filling closure and the cartridge body before assuming which part has failed. |
| Visible cracks or a damaged filling mechanism | Replace the damaged cartridge rather than trying to fix it with another coil. |
| The device does not recognise the coil | Switch off, check that the correct coil is fully seated and that the pod contacts are clean and dry. Seek support if the fault continues. |
Keep the reservoir topped up before the wick is exposed, and allow time for liquid to reach the cotton between puffs. Avoid repeatedly firing a coil that tastes burnt in the hope that it will recover.
A compatible empty pod can be reused through multiple coil changes while it remains undamaged. If you need help identifying the part at fault, contact Ubervape for compatibility and product support.
SMOK Nord 6 Pods and RPM 4 Coils: FAQs
Which coils fit the SMOK Nord 6 empty pod?
The Nord 6 empty top-fill pod accepts SMOK RPM 4 mesh coils, including the 0.15Ω and 0.6Ω options discussed here. The built-in-coil Dual Core pods are a different cartridge type.
Do Nord 6 empty replacement pods come with coils?
No. The 5ml two-pack contains two empty cartridges. Compatible coils, e-liquid and the device are sold separately.
Is the RPM 4 five-pack a mixture of both resistances?
No. A pack contains five coils of your selected resistance: either 0.15Ω or 0.6Ω.
What wattage should I use for a 0.15Ω or 0.6Ω RPM 4 coil?
The pictured 0.15Ω coils are marked 30–60W, best 50W. The pictured 0.6Ω coils are marked 10–30W, best 28W. Follow the markings and instructions on your own coil and packaging.
Can I change an RPM 4 coil without replacing the pod?
Yes. The Nord 6 empty top-fill cartridge has a removable coil. You can reuse an undamaged cartridge when changing the compatible coil.
How long do RPM 4 coils last?
There is no guaranteed lifespan. Replace the coil when performance has deteriorated and remains poor after checking liquid, saturation and settings. Usage and e-liquid choices affect how quickly a coil wears.
